Dog Backpack Guidelines

The first guideline with dog backpacks is never harm the dog or impede its movement. You can achieve this by choosing a bag with straps that do not fasten too hard on the dog’s chest or legs.

You should be able to place the backpack on and fasten without impeding their ability to run, especially uphill. You want the experience to be positive for you and your dog.

A second guideline is you should be able to fasten the dog backpack on the dog’s shoulders, not solely on the back. You don't want to hurt your dog's back especially if it is going to be carrying lots of stuff!!

The third guideline is make sure you get a backpack that is appropriate for your dog. Don't expect your chihuahua to wear a large pack and carry 10 lbs of supplies. If you have a chihuahua you may want to get a pack that you can carry it in. Make sure if you have a dog that doesn't have a lot of fur, get a pack that has felt lining or get some felt to cushion it. It will make the load that much bearable.
